Weekly Phonics/Spelling Words
Every week your child will work on a phonetic theme to the words.
Sometimes words in the list may have the spelling pattern but they *don't* make the same sound OR the words don't follow the spelling pattern but they *DO* make the same sound. These words are called elephant words. We call them elephant words because, according to legend, elephants never forget. The elephant symbol in our spelling list reminds students to pay extra attention to the spelling of these words since they are "rule breakers" in our English language. These words are in red on this page as well as marked with an asterisk *.
